If your business has the Approvals feature enabled, card creation doesn’t issue a card right away: it creates an approval request that an approver acts on in the Business Account dashboard. See How do I set up approval workflows for my team? in the Help Center.

What card creation returns

Store the approvalRequestId and the title you chose. Approvers approve or reject in the dashboard; the API doesn’t list or act on approval requests.
  • Approved: the card is created and shows up in List cards. Find it by the title you chose: GET /cards?title=....
  • Rejected: no card is ever created. Check the dashboard for the request’s rejection status.
No webhook exists for approval outcomes; poll List cards if you need to track them.

Planning for approvals

  • Approvals apply per request, so a batch of cards creates a batch of approval requests. Have an approver available when you run one.
  • Anything approvers should see (why the card exists, who it’s for) goes in the message field of Create card.
